I don’t care how cute it looks on the outside, Minecraft is a terrifying game. The best part is unlike the other games on this list, this is totally something you can play with family around. If you happen to have a particularly ambitious project in the works, I would even suggest recruiting your younger relatives into helping you finish it. Tell them Santa won’t come until it’s finished.

An ice cold game about isolation and survival set in a frozen world filled with nightmarish creatures — this may be a metaphor for everyone who’s spending the holidays in Iowa.
