Brains, organ donation and artificial inseminated are the themes for the CW’s latest pilot pickups as Variety reports that the network has announced pilot pickups of Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero’s “iZombie.”
“iZombie” is “about a med student-turned-zombie forced to work in a coroner’s office.”
CW also picked up “Identity,” “about a young woman asked to investigate a powerful family in exchange for help with an organ transplant.”
Writers Thomas and Ruggiero (“Veronica Mars”) will serve as executive producers on “iZombie” with Warner Bros. TV’s Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge. Show is based on the characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred and published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.
“Identity” comes from executive producer and writer Corinne Brinkerhoff (“Elementary”). Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Heather Kadin of K.O. Paper Products and Scripted World’s Rob Golenberg and Alon Aranya are also executive producing.
The CW also confirmed pilot orders for “Supernatural” spinoff, “Supernatural: Tribes.”
