James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring) fared the horror genre a (hopefully temporary) fond farewell before going off to make Fast & Furious 7. And while this new isn’t technically horror, it has enough genre elements to at least split the difference.
Deadline is reporting that Wan is in talks to direct Malignant Man, an adaptation of the graphic novel he helped create a few years back. Fox just acquired the property. If Wan commits, this will be his first project back after Fast 7.
The graphic novel, “focuses on Alan Gates, a cancer patient with a terminal diagnosis who is resigned to his fate until he discovers that his tumor is actually a mysterious parasite. Granted a second lease on life and incredible, otherworldly powers, Alan must fight against an evil army buried beneath society’s skin, all the while unlocking the secrets of his forgotten past.“
