It’s official, survival games and random airdrops go hand-in-hand. Rust, DayZ and 7 Days to Die all have them, and now it’s been confirmed that H1Z1 will too. If you aren’t familiar with any of these games, they’re all of the variety that drops players in a hostile environment, usually with little to no gear and surrounded by things that are looking for something to kill.
H1Z1 is Sony’s attempt to take advantage of the recent success this subgenre has seen over the last few years, and while it looks rough now, so does its competition.
Because the worlds in these games tend to be on the volatile side, airdrops are the a way of making life a bit easier for players through the random dropping of precious resources from the sky. The only problem is that, more often than not, these drops only serve as a trap for new players. These unsuspecting noobs see the drop and pursue it, only to get gunned down by other players.
Sony also shared a highlight video from a recent “Devathon” stream. You can check that out below.
