Donate and Help One of the Bloody-Disgusting Family

In the world of horror, there are a few voices that aim to take the genre and prove that it’s more than just blood and guts. They strive to show how important, powerful, and worthy the genre is and why it should be recognized for its intelligence, its strength, and its creativity.

One of these voices is BJ Colangelo, who is the owner and voice behind Day Of The Woman, a blog dedicated to studying and honoring the role of women in horror. In a male-dominated industry, BJ’s voice proves time and time again that women are just as strong and capable as the villains they face, the men they suffer, and the scenarios they endure.

But that’s all film, a series of scenes and vignettes that we watch for our amusement. Unfortunately, BJ was hit with horror in real life in the form of pancreatic cancer, a devastating illness that leaves few survivors. But just like the characters she writes about, BJ defeated her villain. Still, no battle leaves the hero without their fair share of scars.

On top of going through horrible procedures and surgeries, including the removal of a tennis ball sized tumor, her spleen, 22 lymph nodes, and 40% of her pancreas, that have left her far less able to work, BJ now faces the crushing weight of medical bills. And that’s what brings us here right now.

You see, BJ used to be a Bloody-Disgusting writer. She’s still heavily embroiled in the horror world. She’s family. She’s one of us. And she needs our help. She has written a post on her own Tumblr but we at BD want to spread the word. We want to do what we can to help her out. And that’s why we’re bringing this to your attention.

If you can donate anything, and any little bit helps, you can help BJ by sending any donations to brittnahjade@gmail.com via Paypal.
