Now that we’ve got Godzilla, Legendary hopes to revive the King Kong franchise with Skull Island, which was surprise announced at this past July’s San Diego Comic-Con.
With a November 4, 2016 already announced through Universal, Legendary is moving quickly on the (confirmed) Kong origin story, and have revealed the first cast and director.
Deadline reports that Jordan Vogt-Roberts is to helm, with Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, starring in the Max Borenstein-scripted pic! Hiddleston absolutely blew my mind with his performance in Only Lovers Left Alive (pictured).
Vogt-Roberts directed and executive produced the Sundance darling The Kings Of Summer and the FX pilot of “You’re The Worst.” He’s directing Metal Gear Solid for Sony.
The island, named for the skull-like rock formations, first appeared in the 1933 King Kong.
