‘Five Minutes’ Offers a Unique Twist On the Zombie Apocalypse

The zombie apocalypse is a well-trodden scenario in video games at this point, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t unique twists left to be made on the increasingly popular genre. Five Minutes is a fine example of this. It has zombies, but it’s not just another zombie game.

Developed by two students at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Five Minutes is unique in that it’s not so much another zombie game as it is a live-action interactive film with a storyline that can be altered by the player.

According to the press release, it’s “based on the concept that the first symptom of infection is memory loss. John, the main character, is fighting to survive after being injured during a battle with a zombie. Only five minutes remain for John to figure out his fate and for the player to help him and his daughter survive up to the twisted climax.”

You can play it for free right here, but first, here’s a trailer.
