This Sony hack scandal is making me sick to my stomach, and I absolutely hate even acknowledging the news coming from it- but I must do my job. And this one is a doozy.
It’s no secret that Bill Murray has allegedly been a huge pain in the ass when it came to the long-gestured and now defunct Ghostbusters III. The reports were uncanny, even stating that Murray shredded the script and sent it back to Sony’s Columbia Pictures. Frankly, Murray doesn’t owe it to anyone to reprise his role as Dr. Pete Venkman, even if it would be spectacular.
Apparently, the studio felt otherwise…
Before Paul Feig came aboard to reboot the franchise, the studio brass had allegedly considered using legal action to force Murray into returning to the franchise. Click the aforementioned link to see what was said…
If true, this is some serious shady shit that hurts to read. Although, to pretend Hollywood doesn’t act like this behind closed doors, daily, is to live in a dream world.
Moving on from the negative, and now that Feig is directing the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters, let’s see who may be cast. The leaked information shared some shocking names, in addition to the tease that Feig had already reached out to reunite with Bridemaids star Rebel Wilson.
Stars alleged to be interested included The Hunger Games‘ Jennifer Lawrence, The Amazing Spider-man‘s Emma Stone, Melissa McCarthy, comedian Amy Schumer and Lizzy Caplan.
I give this an arousing HOLY SHIT.
For me, Emma Stone (Superbad, Amazing Spider-Man) has always been a no-brainer. But the name that excites me the most is Lizzy Caplan, pictured below, who is such a runaway standout in her work, especially “Party Down.” (She was also great in Mean Girls and Cloverfield). And how about the mere mention of Amy Schumer (pictured above)? Have you seen her show “Inside Amy Schumer”? It’s seriously hilarious, and she’s on the verge of a breakout year in 2015. The surprise here is that Jennifer Lawrence is my least favorite of the names, and I think she’s spectacular. If this is the direction Columbia Pictures and Reitman are headed, I really, really, really want to see this all-female ‘busters!
