A video game’s opening cinematic is like its handshake. It’s our first impression, a sampling of what’s to come. It’s not an easy thing to get right either, and Resident Evil has struggled more than most with its openers — as well as its endings, which involve sunsets far too often for my tastes.
With Resident Evil Revelations 2, Capcom has decided to kick off the episodic sequel with a so-bad-it’s-good ad for TerraSave, a group that refers to themselves as an “unflinching mob that sops up the evils of bioterrorism.” Seriously.
