Imagine becoming the proud owner of one of the most infamous filming locations in the history of cinema.
Last summer, Ohio businessman and entrepreneur Roy Rose became the proud owner of the dilapidated Last Chance Gas Station, the site of the Gulf Oil/BBQ joint in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (released in 1974), says The Blood Shed, the Rose’s Facebook.
Rose plans on doing much more than simply fixing up the exterior for looky-loos, explains the site, rather he’s transforming the property into a destination site for horror fans (and even their families) complete with restaurant, music venue, retail store, and overnight cabins.
So how did he end up with the property (located off of Highway 304 in Bastrop County)? “I called the previous owner a few years back to see if she was willing to sell. She said ‘No’ but I left her my phone number anyway. I know this sounds crazy, but on my birthday this year, she called me back asking if I was still interested. No lie!” he tells the site.
Ari Lehman, known as the first ever Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, is also involved. Watch for more as the project develops.
