Here Are The Official Details For The ‘Wicked City’ Vinyl Release

Earlier this year, it was announced that Tiger Lab Vinyl, a new company focused on the release of anime soundtracks, would be releasing Osamu Shoji‘s score for the 1987 fantasy/horror Wicked City. Now we have full details, a shipping date, and the official front and back covers!

Tiger Lab Vinyl was founded by Jon Dobyns (Twitch The Ripper) and Clint Carney (System Syn) in 2014. The label, “…emphasizes the golden age of anime by focusing on the best scores from the era. The label caters to the genre fiends and diehards, while introducing the younger generation of fans to yesteryear.

Dobyns comments on the reason Tiger Lab Vinyl came about:

There was no label putting out anime soundtracks, and those scores have some of the best thematic melodies and atmosphere I’ve ever heard and that is how Tiger Lab Vinyl was born.

I grew up on horror movies, which led me to anime. It was a gateway into the most bizarre and gruesome worlds. Demons, monsters, aliens and ninjas in blood-soaked, animated fairy tales flipped my world upside down. And the scores have stuck with me for years.

The Wicked City OST is, “…an electronic score filled with goth-esque pads, lounge piano lines, 80s bass grooves, and classic drum samples composed, performed, arranged, and written by Shoji.

The 180-gram vinyl, which was carefully remastered and restored, is up for pre-order today at 10am PST (snag a copy here) and will have an official sale date of July 14th.

Below you can see the front and pack of the packaging, which was done by Carney.
