Just yesterday Elizabeth Perkins was locked in a co-starring role opposite Dominic Cooper in AMC’s “Preacher”, based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult 1990s comic.
Now, one of the most important characters has just been cast, and it’s perfect.
“Deadwood” alum W. Earl Brown, pictured left, will portray ‘Sheriff Hugo Root’, the mean-hearted father of Eugene Root aka Arseface (Ian Colletti), a flinty-eyed, conspiracy-credulous redneck who is not a fool and has a vulnerability to him.
Cooper will play Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says.
Sheriff Hugo Root’s run-in with Custard is of legend (you’lllllll seeeeeeee).
Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God.
“True Blood” alumna Lucy Griffiths will play Emily, a no-nonsense single mother of three, a waitress, the church organist, bookkeeper, and Jesse’s loyal right hand.
