Starring Kurt Russell in Bone Tomahawk, we now have the first sales art for a horror Western that also features Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, Richard Jenkins, David Arquette, Lili Simmons and Sid Haig.

In Bone Tomahawk, four men attempt to rescue a group of captives from a band of cannibalistic troglodytes that live beyond the edge of civilization.

Wilson said to EW he was drawn to the project by both the script and the opportunity to ride out with Russell. “I mean, if you’re a child of the 80s, your Westerns are Silverado and Tombstone,” says the Insidious star. “To do a movie with Kurt is one thing—to do a Western with Kurt is like, ‘Alright! I’m going to be next to Wyatt Earp up there on a horse!’”

“After an outlaw unknowingly leads a band of cannibalistic Troglodytes into the peaceful western town of Bright Hope, the monsters kidnap several settlers, including the wife of a local rancher. Despite his injured leg the rancher joins a small rescue party with the sheriff, his aging deputy and a strong-willed gunslinger. What follows is a journey into hell on earth as the posse comes to realise it is up against a foe whose savagery knows no bounds. The film takes place in the mid 1800’s around the border of what is now Texas and New Mexico.”

Keith C. Blackmore’s book series Mountain Man is headed to the screen, with Deadline reporting today that Joe Manganiello (“True Blood”) is on board to star in the film adaptation.

The actor will also produce the upcoming zombie movie.

Mountain Man tells the story of Gus, a lonely post-apocalyptic survivor facing isolation and the ever-present specter of a zombie attack, who struggles with alcohol abuse and suicidal thoughts until he discovers another survivor, a captivating woman who poses another threat altogether.”

John Lee (False Positive) will direct Mountain Man from a script by Matt Deller.

“John is a brilliant creative mind. We’ve been looking for the right thing to do together since we filmed Pee Wee’s Big Holiday and it’s finally here,” 3:59’s Joe and Nick Manganiello told Deadline. “Very excited to get to work on such weird, wild project with him.”

Film Bridge International is launching sales on the project in Cannes.

Blackmore’s Mountain Man series features 7 books, the first one published in 2011.
