After renewing “iZombie” for a second season, the CW has passed on nearly every other horror pilot from “Dead People” to “Tales From the Darkside”.
Now, Deadline is reporting that cablers are interesting in picking up the series – although none have seen the pilot yet. Some potential landing spots include Syfy, MTV, VH1 and possibly streaming service Hulu.
Hill (“Horns,” “Locke & Key”) wrote the pilot script, which will feature only one regular character, Newman (Kris Lemche), a weathered and tortured young man who is the guide to the unsuspecting who come across “The Darkside”. Deadline had revealed that Newman – a man with his own desperate, wrenching secrets – knows exactly what’s causing the terrifying “Darkside Events” that drive the series. What he doesn’t know is how to stop them.
“Tales From the Darkside” was a reboot of fantasy-thriller anthology series created by George A. Romero. The pilot for the series aired back in 1983, with it running from ’84-’88.
