The Next Standalone ‘Batman’ Film Might Have Found Its Director!

According to Latino Review, a new Batman film is set for a potential November 2018 release and it’s looking like it’ll be directed by Ben Affleck, who is playing Batman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

The standalone film, as of this writing, is simply titled The Batman, and will be written by, get this, Chris Terrio, who previously worked with Affleck on the award winning Argo!

In addition, Affleck has signed on to play Batman for a minimum of three films, which includes to Justice League films. According to Collider, the three film deal included an opportunity for Affleck to write and direct a film for Batman.

Terrio is heavily involved in the DC universe. He came onboard the Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice team to tidy up David S. Goyer’s early script drafts and is scribing both of the upcoming Justice League films. Furthermore, Affleck may very well join Terrio in writing The Batman, so the future of the DC cinematic universe seems to have a very steady and cohesive voice.

In Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, opening March 25, 2016:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
