Last October, Crimson Peak director Guillermo del Toro teamed up with Legendary Pictures to host the “House Of Horrors” competition, wherein YouTube content creators were given access to YouTube production studios across the globe to create short films. These production studios used actual sets from Crimson Peak, and creators were encouraged to shoot something built around the atmosphere that these visuals evoked.
This competition was also a chance for del Toro to meet with several of these creators across different regions. One of these creators would then be chosen to earn a development deal with Legendary, although there hasn’t been word on who that is yet.
One of the shorts that was submitted and has since gained a lot of attention was Mike Diva’s mind bender Thresher, which took equal parts of inspiration from Clive Barker, Guillermo del Toro (not just in the movie set but also in the content), and Silent Hill 4.
The short follows a man trapped inside of a room, the exit chained shut from the inside. He has clearly been there a while, based upon the pages and pages of combinations he attempted on each lock. While he’s trying to open the door, suddenly, a hidden passage opens behind him. Inside is something…evil.
Featuring not one but TWO twists at the end, this is a great way to spend just under eight minutes of your day. Enjoy!
