The DC movie universe has been slowly but surely been landing on steadier and steadier feet. While Marvel is focused on making films that are usually as charming and funny as they are thrilling, DC has, for the most part, been focused on being serious, providing dark films that feel very gritty and, in their own way, quite realistic.
While Marvel is clearly and unequivocally killing it in the box office arena, we can’t ignore that DC has been steadily and successfully releasing animated films that are based off of specific storylines in the DC universe. And next on their plate is the highly regarded and critically acclaimed Batman: The Killing Joke, which is an origin story for The Joker, arguably Batman’s most notorious and important arch-nemesis.
