This is quite old but I figure some of you might not have heard of this, which is why I want to bring it to your attention.
UK black metal act The Axis Of Perdition released an album in 2004 titled Physical Illucinations In The Sewer Of Xuchilbara (The Red God). The whole thing is essentially a love note to several Silent Hill games, mainly Silent Hill 3, which is the game that really expands upon the idea of “The Red God” (see here for more information on that).
The tracks use samples from the games, such as the infamous sirens as well as dialogue clips. The titles themselves also reference the games, such as “Heaving Salvation In The Paradise Of Rust”, which is an obvious allegory for the “otherworld”.
If you’re into ambient and heavily industrial-infused black metal, this is going to be right up your alley. Personally, it’s not my style but I love that the band was so moved and influenced by the Silent Hill franchise that they did this.
