Instead of a straight up remake, Twentieth Century Fox decided to tell the origin story of the classic Planet of the Apes, in which our world was overrun by talking apes.
It started with the incredible Rise of the Planet of the Apes and continued in the Matt Reeves-directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Now, a full blown war is upon us.
Casting is now underway on War of the Planet of the Apes, with Gabriel Chavarria, pictured below, the young star of Universal’s upcoming Lowriders, set to star.
Cloverfield‘s Matt Reeves returns to direct with the pic shooting for an October start date in Vancouver.
The role is one of two main humans in the cast, adds Deadline.
War of the Planet of the Apes is slated for release on July 14th, 2017.
