So, I’ll be the first to admit that there’s nothing concrete here whatsoever but this is still way too cool of a possibility to not at least bring it up.
Recently, director James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw) responded to a fan’s question on Twitter, who asked, “If you like giant monsters, how come you haven’t done a giant monster movie?” Wan coyly responded, saying, “Patience, my friend. In due time. Closer than you know.”
While that doesn’t tell us anything of substance, it does tell us that this is something that is on his mind. And after the massive worldwide success of Furious 7, Wan has proven that he create films that draw huge audiences. And that’s not even taking into account the financial success of Saw and Insidious, when you compare investment versus return.
I would love to see Wan tackle a giant monster movie! Firstly, we don’t get enough of them. Secondly, his little touches could really transform it into something smart, exhilarating, and exciting.
