Director S. Craig Zahler has opened up about the difficulties he had in getting the upcoming horror western Bone Tomahawk made and of the unwavering support of star Kurt Russell (Escape From New York, The Thing).
“Various financial entities let us know that even a truncated version of this couldn’t be done for three or four times the budget that we’re currently shooting it on, Zahler explains. And through this process, which took over two years from talking with Russell to the actual filming, he had support from the star. “Kurt’s support of the piece was unwavering in all its incarnations. When we were looking at New Mexico, and Utah, and Romania, he was up for all of them. And that’s why it’s getting made.”
