Well, this sounds like an amazing concept!
Bruce Campbell (“Ash vs Evil Dead“, Army of Darkness) is teaming up with Craig Armstrong, executive producer of “King of the Nerds”, and Rick Ringbakk of 5X5 Media to create a new horror-themed competition series that’s being tentatively titled “Bruce Campbell’s Horrified. Campbell would host the show as well as act as executive producer.
Deadline writes that in the show, “…the contestants would live together, possibly in a haunted house-type of residence, and will compete in a series of team and individual challenges, with each episode themed around a horror sub-genre, like monster, sci-fi, psychological, zombie, etc., completed with decors, costumes and visual effects associated with that genre.”
Campbell enthusiastically explains:
From where I’m sitting, this is the first time a reality series has melded competition and comedy with the fun and fear of the horror genre. It’s a sweet spot I love and to pull it off takes a team of creative, industrious and slightly insane people – which is, of course, why I wanted to do it!
Armstrong and Ringbakk add:
Producing a horror-centric competition show, infused with comedy and brought to audiences by the inimitable Bruce Campbell, is a home run for us.
Okay, this just sounds really damn cool! This is the kind of reality show that I could get behind and would probably even want to compete in. Also, it’s fantastic how hot of a commodity Bruce Campbell is now that “Ash vs Evil Dead” is on the way. The man is stellar at what he does and he deserves all of the love that’s coming his way.
