A full trailer for the New Zealand supernatural horror film The Dead Room has been released and can be seen below. The trailer shows a trio of ghost hunters going to a house to see if they can capture footage of an actual paranormal entity. The longer they stay, the worse the hauntings get until their own lives are put at risk.
The trailer has some nods to films like Evil Dead (the POV ghost cam) and [REC] (the hallway drag scene), so fans of those films can definitely find some interest here.
A cool gimmick with this film is that it will be the first movie in New Zealand to utilize “Rumble”, a low frequency wave generator that instills a sense of discomfort and fear in the viewers. More about that can be viewed here.
The synopsis for The Dead Room reads:
When a terrified family flees a desolate southern New Zealand farmhouse, two cynical scientists and a young psychic are sent to investigate their claims of a haunting. There they encounter a powerful spirit that will protect the house’s secrets at all cost.
The Dead Room is inspired by the chilling urban legend surrounding a farmhouse in Central Otago, New Zealand. In the early 1970s, two science tutors went to debunk claims a rural house was haunted and uncovered an incredibly disturbing mystery.
Jason Stutter directs with Jed Brophy, Jeffrey Thomas, and Laura Petersen starring. The film opens October 29th in New Zealand.
