Johnathan|Christian “Goodbye Horses” Song Premiere (Exclusive)

We’ve teamed up with dark wave/rock group Johnathan|Christian to bring you an exclusive song premiere of their cover of Q Lazzarus’ “Goodbye Horses”, the song made famous to horror fans for its appearance in The Silence of the Lambs. The track comes off the band’s upcoming album The Nothing I Feel, which comes out September 27th.

Christian Granquist states:

When it comes to lyrics, I have, for some time, been using classical horror metaphors to describe topics such as alienation in everyday situations. I think it´s a very useful concept. With “Goodbye Horses”, the connotation doesn’t primarily come from the lyrics itself, but from the feeling you got when you saw the movie, which makes it even more powerful. At the same time, there is an interesting lyrical twist, with it´s own Bhagavad Gita-ish version of a Freudian death wish. So very much a hand-in-glove situation with the whole J|C concept.

Johnathan Mooney adds:

For me, what started as journey into the unknown as to where this (Johnathan|Christian) would be going has become much more of ride down a dark highway. Musically, I’ve found myself going deeper as our sound matures. “Goodbye Horses” always creeped me out a bit, even before I first saw ‘Silence of the Lambs’, so naturally it was one of those songs I knew that we could play with and come up with something even darker.

You can buy the group’s music through Bandcamp.
