New to Blu – Week of 10/6/2015
Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.
Pretty heavy week of releases, particularly here in the US. Lots of Hammer horror which is always a good thing!
US Releases
Bram Stoker’s Dracula – Supreme Cinema Series (Sony)
Synopsis:
A young English lawyer, Jonathan Harker, is sent to a gloomy village in eastern Europe. He is captured and imprisoned by the undead vampire Dracula, who travels to London, inspired by a photograph of Harker’s betrothed, Mina Murray. In Britain, Dracula begins a reign of seduction and terror, draining the life from Mina’s closest friend, Lucy Westenra. Lucy’s friends gather together to try to drive away Dracula and rescue Mina.

Burnt Offerings (Kino Lorber)
Synopsis:
Haunted house chiller from Dan Curtis has Oliver Reed and Karen Black as summer caretakers moving into a gothic house with their young son.
Insidious: Chapter 3 (Sony)
Synopsis:
A prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.
We Are Still Here (Dark Sky Films)
Synopsis:
In the cold, wintery fields of New England, a couple grieving over the death of their son moves into a lonely old house and encounters a mysterious presence.
American Horror Story: Freak Show (Fox)
Synopsis:
The fourth season is set in Jupiter, Florida in 1952, and follows the lives of a troupe of people belonging to one of the last remaining freak shows of its time.
Penny Dreadful: The Complete Second Season (Paramount)
Synopsis:
In Victorian London, figures such as explorer Sir Malcolm Murray, American gunslinger Ethan Chandler, enigmatic medium Vanessa Ives, and others combat supernatural forces. Murray is searching for his adult daughter, now a vampire, and hopes to cure her.
Tremors 5: Bloodlines (Universal)
Synopsis:
Weapons enthusiast and expert subterranean creature hunter Burt Gummer returns with a new right hand man, tech-savvy Travis. The pair are joined by an international cast of characters that mount a battle against the deadly creatures that turns out to be far more than they bargained for.
Ban Man’s River (Kino Lorber)
Synopsis:
Robber Roy King loses his wife, Alicia, to revolutionary Montero. Despite their rivalry they collaborate in an attempt to rob the Mexican government of one million dollars.
Captain Apache (Kino Lorber)
Synopsis:
A Native American working for the government must investigate the Indian Commissioner’s death. Soon he uncovers the schemes of a wealthy land owner and an assassination plot which will further victimize the local natives.
The Stranger (Scream Factory)
Synopsis:
A mysterious stranger, Martin, arrives seeking to kill his wife, Ana, who suffers from a very dangerous disease that makes her as addicted to human blood as he is. But when he discovers that Ana has been dead for a couple of years, Martin decides to commit suicide to definitively eradicate this peculiar disease which imbues his blood with healing powers. Before he can do it, however, Martin is brutally attacked by three local thugs, lead by Caleb, the son of a corrupt police lieutenant. The incident suddenly initiates a chain-reaction that plunges the community into a bloodbath.
Gravy (Scream Factory)
Synopsis:
It’s All Hallow’s Eve. A trio of costumed misfits with very special dietary requirements seizes a Mexican cantina and force the staff to engage in a late night of gaming, food and libations. The only caveat is what’s on the menu.
Final Girl (Nasser)
Synopsis:
A psychological thriller about a beautiful teen girl new to town who is lured out to the woods by a group of senior boys to be the victim in their final initiation. Taught by her trainer, William, to be a lethal weapon, she turns the hunters into the hunted with a level of perversity far beyond anything they could have ever imagined.
Last Shift (Magnet)
Synopsis:
A rookie cop’s 1st shift in the last night of a closing police station alone turns into a living nightmare. The plot echoes John Carpenter’s ‘Assault on Precinct 13’ but with supernatural twist.
Nocturna (Alchemy)
Synopsis:
Two New Orleans detectives become embroiled in a centuries-long feud between two secretive factions of vampires while investigating a runaway child’s case. Torn between their everyday lives and the dangerous lure of immortality, the detectives must race to destroy the evil Moldero clan.
Alléluia (Music Box Films)
Synopsis:
Michel, a murderous womanizer, meets introverted Gloria online and treats her to a whirlwind one-night-stand. Offering herself as an accomplice in his seductive crimes, the unhinged lovers embark on a deadly odyssey amplified by wild sex, unbridled jealousy, and passionate forays into the dark arts. This smart and gory shocker breathes new life into the lovesick horror genre to serve up a chilling tale of white-hot desperation and terrifying devotion.
Navy Seals vs Zombies (Starz/Anchor Bay)
Synopsis:
A team of highly skilled Navy SEALS find themselves embarking on the battle of their lives when they come face-to-face with the undead. After a deadly outbreak occurs in New Orleans, the SEALS must fight for their lives, and the city, against an army of zombies.

Synopsis:
Two cops and a detective’s daughter go after a chainsaw killer.
Turbo Kid (Lionsgate)
Synopsis:
In a post-apocalyptic future, THE KID, a young solitary scavenger obsessed with comic books must face his fears and become a reluctant hero when he meets a mysterious girl named APPLE. Despite their efforts to keep to themselves, ZEUS, the sadistic and self-proclaimed leader of the Wasteland, plagues THE KID and APPLE. Armed with little more than blind faith and an ancient turbocharged weapon, THE KID learns of justice and friendship and embarks on an incredible journey to rid the Wasteland of evil and save the girl of his dreams.
The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (Signal One Entertainment)
Synopsis:
Rynn Jacobs lives down the lane in her big old house alone…or does she? Soon, the landlord and her child molester son start insinuating themselves into Rynn’s life asking questions. This may soon prove fatal for them both!
Back to the Future: Flux Capacitor Set (Universal)
Synopsis:
When teenager Marty McFly is blasted to 1955 in the DeLorean time machine created by the eccentric Doc Brown, he finds himself mixed up in a time-shattering chain reaction that could vaporize his future—and leave him trapped in the past.

Re-Animator: The Integral Cut (Umbrella Entertainment)
Synopsis:
Herbert West is obsessed with the idea of bringing the dead back to life. Experimenting with a glowing green fluid, he successfully reanimates dead tissue. Unfortunately, the dead are uncontrollable and difficult to subdue.
Return to Sender (Pinnacle Films)
Synopsis:
A nurse living in small town goes on a blind date with a man who is not the person he says he is.

Watch the Opening ‘Mortal Kombat II’ Battle Scene Now Ahead of Physical Media Release in July
Sequel Mortal Kombat II is now available to watch at home on Digital before heading to physical media in July, but you can test your might now and watch the opening scene.
Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid returns to the helm for the new sequel from a script by Jeremy Slater (“Moon Knight,” Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire).
In Mortal Kombat II, the fan-favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) — are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.
Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada are also part of the ensemble cast of Mortal Kombat II fighters.
Watch the opening below, which introduces a young Kitana (Sophia Xu) as Emperor Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford) prepares to conquer her father, King Jerrod (Desmond Chiam), and her kingdom of Edenia. It sets the sequel’s entire plot in motion.
From New Line Cinema, James Wan’s Atomic Monster, Broken Road Productions, and Fireside Films, Mortal Kombat II is rated R for “strong bloody violence and gore, and language.”
Look for Mortal Kombat II to arrive on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on July 28, 2026.
