Director Guillermo del Toro spoke recently with The Guardian about his upcoming film Crimson Peak, which hits theaters this Friday. In the interview, he talks about how he wants to make sure his films tell, “…a story with what I call eye-protein, not eye-candy.

Additionally, del Toro opened up about a film that he has been wanting to make for a long, long time titled Silva, which is about, “…a Mexican masked wrestler who discovers that all politicians are vampires.” He wants to shoot it in black-and-white and keep it low-budget, which is interesting considering his past several films are big-budget spectacles with some rather stunning visuals and set pieces. However, Silva has a very cool sound to it, reminding me of John Carpenter’s They Live.
Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver.
