Many of you know that the town of Silent Hill is based upon a real place in Pennsylvania, where there is a small burg by the name of Centralia that is pretty much a ghost town. The reason it’s nearly completely abandoned is because a fire that ignited in the town’s coal mine has been burning continuously for over 50 years, creating a haze of smoke and buckling roads. Nearly all of the town’s inhabitants have relocated, although a handful fought for their right to remain. Now Centralia is receiving its very own TV show, courtesy of Meredith Averill (“Star-Crossed”).
According to Deadline, the dark character-driven drama will focus on the, “…remaining few residents of this ghost town [that] are determined to preserve their homes but remain unaware of the evil that is slowly making its way to the surface.
NBC landed the rights to “Centralia” with Averill creating and executive producing alongside Amblin TV.
