“Ren and Stimpy” Artist Did This Year’s “Treehouse of Horror” Couch Gag for “The Simpsons”

The opening couch gag for the upcoming “Treehouse of Horror XXVI” episode of “The Simpsons” has been released and it was created by none other than John Kricfalusi, the mastermind behind “Ren and Stimpy”! This is actually the second couch gag that was done by John K., the first of which can be seen here.

The gag, which can be seen below, is like a mix of The Nightmare Before Christmas and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Fans of “The Simpsons” will also recognize a certain name that appears on a graveyard tombstone. It’s the name of a character that perished during the series and his passing caused Homer loads of terror and grief.

Packed with absolutely wonderful and delightful imagery, it’s a joy to see the opening gag done with this style. I’m a big fan of “Ren and Stimpy”, so this warms the cockles of my heart.
