R&B artist Lawrence Rothman has released a NSFW haunting and captivating video for his track “Oz vs Eden”, which has additional vocals from Charli XCX. Directed by the world renowned photographer/music video director Floria Sigismondi, the video is almost like a collection of living photographs, each scene a sentient painting that has its own life.
Rothman explains to BD:
The theme of the song is that honest moment when you push out your most extreme and unflattering corners of your brain and display them uncensored.
The video conjures the age old struggle of the negative and positive voices we all hear when living in our head to long.
We also have an exclusive quote from Sigismondi that reads almost like a poem. You can read her words, as well as see the video, below.
Director Floria Sigismondi exclusively tells Bloody-Disgusting:
When listening to the song “Oz Vs Eden” I was drawn to the image of a grand house. A mash up of the Garden of Eden, with it’s faded floral wallpaper and a house that can be swept away like the will of man as in Oz. A house that had mystery. You can feel it in the wood, the wall paper, the curtains. When i found the perfect house that reflected these two things, the images that emerged were pastel and soft. I wanted to juxtapose the darkness of the song with beautiful colors and dusty light. I imagined that these characters were beings that were stuck in a sort of limbo, something only a dream could conjure. A place between two opposing forces. The angels and the demons. The place inside all of us. The beauty and the ugliness. The known and unknown.
