Thanks to August Ragone, we now know that Toho’s upcoming Godzilla film, which will be the 29th film in the franchise, has received a new subtitle, officially being labeled as Godzilla Resurgence for overseas audiences.
While we don’t know too much about the film, which should have just finished production, we don know that the titular creature is supposedly going to be the largest Godzilla ever committed to screen. Additionally, the title of the film, “…is meant to be an expression of resurrecting the true Godzilla. As this Godzilla will put the fearful “God” rightly in its name.”
Some minor plot details were released earlier this year, although they were mainly to reveal the main characters of the film.
Godzilla Resurgence is co-directed by Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (Attack on Titan). Anno has written the script. Toho is hoping for a summer 2016 release.
