Ridley Scott’s Alien was a revolutionary film, one that created a horror icon and set off a franchise whose mythology is still being pored over to this day.
Cue German sound artist/composer Stephan Mathieu and his album Beyond Nostromo, which was commissioned by, “…ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics Karlsruhe for their 46.12 channel sound pavillon The Morning Line.” The album is a trip through the imagination of Mathieu as he envisions what the crew of the USCSS Nostromo would hear in their dreams, moments before awakening.
The piece is being called on homage to the sound design of the 1979 film, so fans of the ambience of Alien should absolutely take note of this.
