“All I Want For Christmas” Turned Minor is Perfect For a Horror Movie

Halloween is long gone. Thanksgiving leftovers are either eaten or thrown out. The first few Hanukkah candles have been lit. I guess we can talk a bit about Christmas, especially since it’s two and a half weeks away. However, we’re still gonna keep it creepy, okay?

The noel “All I Want For Christmas” is one of the most heard songs this time of year. Originally written and performed by Mariah Carey in 1994, the track has been covered countless times, becoming an iconic part of this holiday season. Its romantic nature is highlighted by the positive and uptempo beat. But what if things were turned around? What if the happiness gave way to melancholy?

Enter Kurt Hugo Schneider and Chase Holfelder, who have taken the track and transposed the song from major to minor while adding some very cinematic passages to support their newly dark and sinister version. If you don’t think this would sound perfect as the credits music of a Christmas-themed horror film, then I’m wondering about your holiday spirit…
