Some major news is coming out of Hollywood as it’s being reported by sources for Variety that Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) is in early talks to play the creature in the upcoming reboot of The Mummy. Furthermore, after a confusing back-and-forth regarding whether or not Tom Cruise would also be starring in the film, it appears that he is in fact in negotiations for an appearance.

Not much is known about the upcoming reboot of the Universal Monster Movie universe that is being helmed by Kurtzman and Chris Morgan but it’s being said that the series will take place in the present day. They are aiming to make it sort of like the Marvel Comics Universe, where characters are able to jump in between films, creating a larger, more rich and complex storyline.
Alex Kurtzman is directing the reboot based on a script by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus). Kurtzman is also producing alongside Morgan and Sean Daniel.
