Some tragic news is making its way around the internet as it’s being reported that Lemmy Kilmister, the enigmatic frontman/bassist of London hard rock/metal band Motörhead has passed away. He was 70 years old. The band has posted an official statement.
There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.
We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.
We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.

Motörhead began in 1975 and were considered by many to be part of the NWOBHM movement. During their tenure, they released 23 studio albums as well as several live albums and compilation discs. Perhaps their most famous song is “Ace of Spades”, the title track of their hit 1980 album.
We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family. Let us raise our horns in the air and bow our heads for one of the greats.
