Developer LKA is bringing their psychological thriller The Town of Light to the Xbox One sometime after its PC release next week. Set in Italy in 1938, this is a decidedly different kind of horror game, as it gives players a raw look at “mental illness and how mental institutions used to operate back in the 1940s through the eyes of one patient, Renée.”
At the center of its story is 16 year-old Renée, who’s been forcefully committed to the Volterra Psychiatric Asylum — a virtual recreation of a real asylum — which will be fully explorable so you can seek out its “secrets that will unveil a non-linear story based on your choices” so you can save Renée before she succumbs to the medieval treatments those institutions once employed.
LKA isn’t ready to give us an ETA on its Xbox One release, but it will arrive this year.
The Town of Light hits PC on Feb 26, capping off another great month for horror games.
