Nightdive Studio’ long-awaited remaster of Ritual Entertainment’s 90s cult FPS SiN will finally see the light of day next month when SiN: Reloaded launches September 24 for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch 1|2.
Set in a near-future dystopian world, SiN: Reloaded puts players in control of security consultant Colonel John R. Blade as players take on his nemesis Doctor Elexis Sinclaire. When Elexis, CEO of SinTEK Industries, begins injecting the streets with a DNA-altering drug, it’s time to reassess the laws of morality by facing off against Elexis’ unholy army of genetically-engineered mutants.
The original SiN was lauded for introducing a groundbreaking level of interactivity, as well as pushing the Quake II engine to its limits. Players can hack their way into computer terminals using DOS-style code, use elevators and security cameras to wreak havoc, and traverse levels using a variety of vehicles, including a forklift, a patrol boat, and a helicopter. Players’ actions also have consequences, resulting in branching paths as the game progresses.
SiN: Reloaded includes the Wages of SiN mission pack, where players go up against a mafia boss with a new army of dangerous henchmen. Both games have been optimized using Nightdive’s proprietary KEX Engine to play on modern systems, and graphics have been beautifully remastered with new textures. Players can enjoy the remastered graphics with HD textures and models (up to) 4K resolution at 144 FPS, anti-aliasing, and upgraded 2D screens and menu art.
Additionally, control schemes have been modernized, maps have been improved, and the original Zak Belika soundtrack has been given a high quality boost by Chris Mock.
