‘Dead By Daylight’ Gets First Gameplay Footage

We were first introduced to the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead By Daylight a month ago, but this is the first semi-substantial look at what developer Behaviour is cooking up for us with their first stab at the slasher genre. The core idea behind it should sound all-too-familiar at this point, as both Last Year and Friday the 13th: The Game seem similar enough in structure and appearance to be difficult to distinguish from one another.

There is a difference though, and it’s a big one.

Like its competitors, Dead By Daylight pits two teams of players against each other in a fight for survival. One side is comprised of a gaggle of teens — four, to be specific — while the other consists of a lone wolf type that’s been tasked with inflicting murder upon them. In this case, the hunter can come in a variety of forms that range from your traditional masked murderer archetype to something more supernatural.

The procedurally generated environments should go a long way in making sure each map plays out different from the last. All three of these stab ’em ups will rely on their randomized, unpredictable nature, but this game seems to cherish that trait the most.

There’s no release date for it yet, but we do know it’ll come to PC. Speaking of which, if you own a decent rig and can keep a secret, you might want to sign up to be an alpha tester.
