Another Season of “The X-Files” is in the Works
During a recent conference call with reporters, Fox TV Group chairmans Dana Walden and Gary Newman both made it clear that there is strong interest in seeing “The X-Files” return for another season, especially after the success of the recent 10th season.
Walden proclaimed, “We have had conversations with Chris Carter and David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show,” according to Deadline. However, don’t get your hopes up that we’ll be getting a new season next year as Walden also stated, “…hopefully this season we will be able to get it done and that the same time next year (May), we will have something to announce.” As a result, we’re understanding that new episodes would be part of the 2017-18 season.
Newman added, “Conversations are ongoing. I can tell you that all of them would like to do more of these, and certainly the network and studio want to do more.”
Earlier this year, Fox premiered a 6-episode 10th season of the iconic sci-fi/thriller show, which originally premiered in 1993 and produced two feature-length films. The latest season brought back such stars as Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis as well as writers James Wong and Darin Morgan. It was one of Fox’s strongest performing programs during its season.
