Rumor: ‘The Evil Within’, ‘Wolfenstein’ Sequels At E3
I’ve been worried about our prospects of seeing a follow-up to Shinji Mikami’s anti-Resident Evil, The Evil Within. Bethesda has remained tight-lipped on those sales figures, and that’s very rarely a good thing. It’s especially worrying when the same cannot be said for Alien: Isolation, which released the previous week, and Sega wasn’t at all impressed when it sold 2.1M copies.
Mikami’s nightmarish video game might not have performed as poorly as I feared. A recent rumor has teased the possibility that we’ll hear from a range of titles from Bethesda at E3 next week, including The Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim HD, and even Prey 2, again.
The fresh batch of TBA’s were uncovered by reliable industry insider Shinobi602, who broke the news on the H.A.M. Radio Podcast (#63), where he also provided some (unconfirmed) details on a the games. Apparently, Prey 2 — not its actual title — plays like System Shock and will be a reboot made by Dishonored developer Arkane Studios.
As for the Skyrim remaster, it will allegedly feature enhanced visuals, full mod support, and all-previously released DLC. This claim was backed up by NeoGAF user Enter the Dragon Punch, the insider who foiled Capcom’s planned reveal of Dead Rising 4 at E3 next week (June 14-16).
The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein 2 are still enigmas to us, for now.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
