The clowns are taking over. And John Carpenter isn’t having any of it.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re surely aware by now that the world is currently fascinated by two things in equal measure: scary clowns and, of course, Ken Bone. We’re here to talk about the former, so if you were hoping for a post about Ken Bone, we are deeply sorry. But we’re pretty sure John Carpenter has had enough of his shenanigans too.
So those clowns. People all over the world are dressing up as creepy clowns and terrorizing non-clowns, and things have gotten so out of hand that arrests have been made, shootings have occurred, and people are starting to get hurt. What started out as fun and games has quickly turned into a troubling epidemic, and though he may be a master at scaring the hell out of people, John Carpenter just doesn’t find any amusement in the whole thing.
Speaking with Evening Standard, Carpenter just lashed out at the clowns.
“It’s getting ridiculous. These people are idiots,” said Carpenter. “I guess I understand what they’re trying to do in trying to scare people, but it’s not right to run at people with a chainsaw. That’s not funny — it’s dangerous. I was visiting a friend in the emergency room and the curtain parted next to me, and this guy had been using a chainsaw on a tree stump and it hit something and bounced into his face. He was just about alive but man he was in pain. They were working on him trying to clean up the wound. Kids should put the chainsaws down.”
“It’s a really scary world were living in,” he later added.
When John Carpenter says it’s time to stop, I’m thinking it’s time to stop.
