‘Darkland’: Trailer For Revenge Tale Burns Rubber
We now have the first international trailer for Fenar Ahmad’s upcoming action thriller Darkland, releasing in January.
Darkland stars Dar Salim (Games of Thrones) as the lead. He will be joined by Stine Fischer Christensen (After the Wedding), Roland Møller (Land of Mine) and Dulfi Al-Jabouri (A War).
The film tells the story of Zaid, played by Salim, a successful surgeon who lives with his pregnant girlfriend, played by Christensen. One night, Zaid’s younger brother knocks on his door and asks for money. Zaid refuses, but a few days later, his brother is assaulted and killed.
With little help from the police, Zaid feels obligated to find out who murdered him and embarks on a mission to eliminate all criminal gangs in Copenhagen by disguising himself and entering the criminal underworld. He must decide if the price of revenge is worth risking it all.
Darkland is director Ahmad’s second feature film. His shortfilm Megaheavy was selected for the Generation section at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2009.
Darkland is produced by Jacob Jarek for Profile Pictures with support from Danish Film Institut, DR and Scanbox Entertainment. It is executive produced by Thor Sigurjonsson, Ditte Milsted and Caroline Schlüter Bingestam. (ScreenDaily)
The ’90s slasher franchise I Know What You Did Last Summer is headed back to the big screen with a brand new movie that’s been dated for theatrical release in Summer 2025.
The franchise will return to theaters on July 18, 2025.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is on board to direct the new installment in the franchise for Sony, with Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.) writing the screenplay.
We don’t yet know if the original cast will be back for the new movie, but we’ve previously heard that both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. were potentially returning.
I believe they call that a “legacy sequel,” kids. Stay tuned for more.
Jim Gillespie directed the original I Know What You Did Last Summer back in 1997, written by Kevin Williamson (Scream) and based on Lois Duncan’s novel. The film spawned sequels in 1998 and 2006. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. only came back for that first sequel.
In the 1997 slasher movie, “Four young friends bound by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.”
More recently, the franchise returned with Amazon’s short-lived television series.
