Stephen King’s “Mr. Mercedes” Adds Key Player

Magic City alumna Kelly Lynch has landed a key role in “Mr. Mercedes”, AT&T Audience Network’s upcoming drama series, Deadline is reporting.

Based on Stephen King’s 2014 book of the same name, “Mr. Mercedes” follows a demented killer who taunts a retired police detective with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Lynch will play Deborah Hartsfield, Brady Hartsfield’s complicated mother. Despite her troubles, Deborah tries to have a normal relationship with her deeply troubled son but she is rarely successful.

Anton Yelchin (Green Room, Fright Night, Terminator Salvation) was to star in the series before his tragic and untimely death. Brendan Gleeson (Edge of Tomorrow, Troy, Gangs of New York) was also cast.

David E. Kelley is writing the adaptation, which is being produced by Sonar Entertainment, and Jack Bender (“Lost”) is set to direct. Both executive produce along with Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.
