John Goodman is a goddamn national treasure, you guys.
We’re still holding out hope that John Goodman gets nominated for an Oscar for his INCREDIBLE performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane, which saw him play a batshit crazy conspiracy theorist hiding out in an underground bunker. Goodman’s performance in the film was undoubtedly one of last year’s best, and today we’re excited to report that he’s headed back into sci-fi land.
As reported by Collider, Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt will direct John Goodman in Captive State, an alien invasion film set for release sometime in 2018. Yes, Goodman is once again going to find himself in a world taken over by extraterrestrial lifeforms, and that alone is enough to already make Captive State one of our most anticipated 2018 movies.
In the sci-fi thriller…
Set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after it has been occupied by an extraterrestrial force, Captive State uses a grounded sci-fi setting to shine light on the modern surveillance state and the threats to civil liberties and the role of dissent within an authoritarian society.
Ashton Sanders will star alongside Goodman.
