Latest ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Poster Pays Tribute to Classic Movie Art

This. Is. Awesome.

Entertainment Weekly just got their hands on the brand new IMAX poster for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island, and it has somehow managed to make us even more excited about one of the most hotly-anticipated movies of the year. Why is that, you ask? Because the art pays direct homage to Bob Peak’s Apocalypse Now one-sheet, and goddamn is it cool.

Check it out below, along with the art it pays tribute to!

In the film…

A diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific – as beautiful as it is treacherous – unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

The cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, Thomas Mann and John Ortiz.

Skull Island opens in theaters on March 10th, 2017, followed by Godzilla 2, which is being directed by Michael Dougherty, on March 22, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong on May 29, 2020.
