“Can we talk about how great our Japanese Kaiju poster is?” – Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
We couldn’t possibly be more excited about director Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island, and goddamn has the marketing been incredibly cool. The various trailers and TV spots have promised a monster-filled action flick that’s sure to be one of the most entertaining movies this year, and just last week we saw the badass, Apocalypse Now-inspired IMAX poster.
Somehow, that poster has just been put to shame.
The Japanese artwork for the new Kong movie is BONKERS in the best of ways, and we feel pretty comfortable already calling it the best movie poster of 2017. Check it out below.
In the film…
A diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific – as beautiful as it is treacherous – unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.
The cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, Thomas Mann and John Ortiz.
Skull Island opens in theaters on March 10th, 2017, followed by Godzilla 2, which is being directed by Michael Dougherty, on March 22, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong on May 29, 2020.
