Racial Undertones Make These ‘Get Out’ Clips Super Uncomfortable
Those of you who have seen Comedy Central’s hilarious “Key & Peele” know that the duo are huge horror fans. So, when it was announced that Jordan Peele would be directing a genre film, it wasn’t all that surprising. In fact, seeing the commentary they made on the genre (their Gremlins 2 skit is out of this world) made me believe he could kill it as a horror director.
Now, Universal Pictures has unveiled the first two clips from Get Out, which begins when a young African-American man visits his white girlfriend’s family estate and becomes ensnared in a more sinister reason for the invitation. The first clip introduces Daniel Kaluuya’s character to Allison Williams’ family, and there’s subtle racism glossed over by smiles. It’s super uncomfortable.
The second clip, at the bottom of the article, carries more racial undertones; this time a family member at a party eludes to Kaluuya and Williams’ sex life…

Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya, Sicario) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams, Girls), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy (Catherine Keener, Captain Phillips) and Dean (Bradley Whitford, The Cabin in the Woods).
At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.
The film also stars Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men series), Milton “Lil Rel” Howery (The Carmichael Show), Betty Gabriel (The Purge: Election Year), Marcus Henderson (Pete’s Dragon) and Keith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton).
Ryan Gosling (Project Hail Mary) has made no secret of the fact that he’d love to play Ghost Rider in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, and it’s now officially happening.
Announced by Marvel out of San Diego Comic-Con tonight, Ryan Gosling will play the iconic Marvel character in a Ghost Rider movie being directed by Shawn Levy!
Expect Ryan Gosling to play Ghost Rider on the big screen in 2028.
Johnny Blaze is of course the most iconic and well-known Ghost Rider, selling his soul to Satan and becoming a supernatural badass. Nicolas Cage brought Blaze to life on screen in both 2007’s Ghost Rider and 2011’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, while Gabriel Luna more recently played the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider in the series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
Luna was set to star in his own Ghost Rider spinoff series in the wake of that small screen appearance, but that Hulu project ended up being squashed before it ever had a chance.
Fans have been waiting for Ghost Rider to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for many years now, with Ryan Gosling making it clear that he’d love to bring the character back to life.
That Hollywood dream is coming true. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.
