Take Out Your Frustrations On These Horror Icon Pinatas

Published

Who’s ready to have the coolest birthday party ever?

When I was a kid, all I wanted was to grow up. I couldn’t wait to have my own place, my own money, and most importantly, I couldn’t wait to have the freedom to order pizza delivery whenever the hell I wanted to. But now that I am grown up (at least that’s what people tell me…), all I really want is to be a kid again. Because in hindsight, being a kid was pretty damn awesome.

Remember pinatas, for example? Those goofy, shitty-looking decorations that you’d beat up with a wiffle ball bat, hopeful that you’d swing hard enough to make candy pour out all over the ground? Now those were the days, my friends. And if you’re looking to get back in touch with the sheer joy of beating up your favorite pop culture icons, we’ve got just the thing for you.

Introducing HORROR ICON PINATAS!

The handiwork of Etsy seller HangMeOfficial, these pinatas are ready for stuffing with your favorite candy, and they depict iconic heroes and villains like Ash Williams, Leatherface, Pennywise, Chucky, and Freddy Krueger. There’s even a clever one of a near-death Glenn from “The Walking Dead,” which comes with your own version of Lucille to beat him with. Now that’s just sick!

We love these. Check ’em out below.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has two awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
