Earlier this week we showed off a brand new image of actor Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise in this year’s adaptation of IT; stalking Georgie from the inside of a sewer, the creepy still recreated one of the most iconic images of Pennywise from the 1990 adaptation. It was taken from inside the pages of the new Empire Magazine, and today we’ve got a much higher quality version.
Naturally, the image comes from the Empire Magazine website, which also posted a quote from director Andy Muschietti. He says we’ll be seeing A LOT of Pennywise this September, and he promises that Skarsgard’s portrayal of the killer clown will scare the shit out of you.
Muschietti told Empire:
There’s supposed to be a less-is-more thing in horror. It’s like you’re not really meant to show the monster. But Pennywise is different. With Pennywise, it’s like, ‘This is the monster, I’m showing it to you… and you’re going to shit a brick.’

Bill Skarsgard stars as Pennywise, the sewer-dwelling monster.
Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Hamilton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, and Jeremy Ray Taylor are the modern Losers’ Club.
Creature performer Javier Botet will play The Leper, and Owen Teague plays Patrick Hocksetter, a bully who torment the Losers’ Club.
