“People getting strength from my own little terrors… there is no better legacy than that.”
The horror genre has often been criticized for looking down on women, but the reality is that horror has given us some of the greatest pop culture heroines of all time. And no such list would be complete without the ass-kicking Buffy Summers, portrayed by Sarah Michelle Gellar in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Believe it or not, it’s been twenty years since we first met Buffy!
In celebration of the inspiring and influential show’s 20th birthday, Entertainment Weekly just gathered together the core cast for a massive reunion; it was the first joint interview and photo shoot the actors united for in over a decade. The latest issue of EW, on newsstands this week, spotlights the “Buffy” reunion; but you don’t have to wait or spend any money to enjoy it.
Below you’ll find some footage from the reunion, which was plucked from a 45-minute vid you can watch over on People.com. If you’re a fan of the series, it’s guaranteed to make your day.
Reflecting on the “Buffy” experience, Gellar told EW:
I’m so incredibly proud of what we all created. Sometimes you need distance to really understand the gravitas of that. I appreciate everything about that job. As an actor, all you ever want to do is leave your mark — you want to do something that affects people.
