Someone Put Clips from ‘IT’ 1990 and ‘IT’ 2017 Side By Side

Published

Well this sure didn’t take long.

It was just yesterday that the (terrifying and perfect) teaser trailer for Andy Muschietti’s IT hit the net, and one fan has already taken it upon himself to put the footage side-by-side with pertinent clips from Tommy Lee Wallace’s 1990 miniseries adaptation. As you’ll see, the two line up pretty well; of course, this makes sense, given they’re both adaptations of the very same novel.

The scene where Georgie encounters Pennywise looks particularly similar to the 1990 version, but you’ve gotta love the little additions Muschietti added in; Georgie unexpectedly bopping his head on the construction barrier is particularly inspired. As you probably noticed, Muschietti also put his own spin on the iconic scrapbook scene, amping up the terror in very effective fashion.

And that seems to be the whole point of Muschietti’s vision, above all else: to make EVERYTHING about the story scarier than it ever was before. The 1990 miniseries was hampered by budgetary and ratings constraints, but Muschietti was free to really run wild, have fun, and make his movie truly terrifying. And judging by the teaser, I’m feeling like he totally nailed it.

In any event, check out the side-by-side action below!

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
